What’s archaeology? Just think Indiana Jones. For those of you who aren’t familiar with him, Jones was a fictional archaeologist who went after famously lost gems, like such religious artifacts as the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail. While the movies are all about the thrill of adventure, real-life archeology digs are a lot more methodical and scientific. People on the dig survey the area and carefully excavate and analyze whatever they find — including human remains, artifacts, and other items from history are typically found on a dig.
What’s so incredible about this field of study is that the objects found provide us a more informed, intimate look at history, humanity, and culture. Although such artifacts give us a better look into the world’s past, they also prompt even more questions.
That being said, why don’t you dig a little through history with us and check out some of these rare archaeological finds? They are among the rarest to have ever been discovered, … so far. Don’t forget to SHARE these finds with your friends!
